The Menomonee Falls Dolphinettes (MFD) Artistic Swimming team is gearing up for its much-anticipated annual showcase, set to take place this Sunday, May 4th at 3 PM. For over five decades, this event has been a highlight of the year for the team, their families, and the local community, offering a unique glimpse into the artistry and athleticism of this captivating sport.

A Tradition of Excellence and Inspiration

According to Coach Linda Loehndorf, the upcoming showcase is more than just a performance—it’s a celebration of dedication, teamwork, and the sport’s rich history within the community. “This show has been the highlight of the year for over 50 years,” she said. “It’s a special event where we showcase our athletes’ hard work and passion, and it’s a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and support these talented young women.”

A Personal Touch: The Power of Inspiration

The significance of the showcase extends beyond the pool. Krista Schreiner (Rasmussen), a former Dolphinettes swimmer, fondly recalls attending her first show at just eight years old. Her mother took her to see the team perform shortly after they had traveled to Finland and earned a notable placement at an international event.

“I always enjoyed swimming, so my mom thought it would be fun to see the show,” Krista shared. “I was instantly hooked. I tried out for the team the following summer and was with MFD until my senior year of high school. Being a part of MFD shaped my past and future. It became a part of who I was and am. None of that would have happened if I hadn’t attended that showcase 30 years ago.” Krista also reflected on her memories of the showcase, "my mom used to act in the skits between routines, and I even came back to act when I went on to college. There was always a lot of work put into the showcase, between painting scenery, lighting, and putting together the script and stage. The team takes the showcase very seriously."

Krista’s story exemplifies the transformative impact the Dolphinettes have on young athletes and highlights the importance of community support in nurturing talent and passion for artistic swimming.

An Opportunity to Learn and Support

This year’s showcase promises to deliver inspiring routines, stunning choreography, and the dedication of the current Dolphinettes team. It’s an ideal occasion for community members to witness the grace, strength, and artistry of the sport firsthand. Attendees will also get the chance to learn more about artistic swimming—an Olympic sport that combines swimming, dance, and gymnastics into a seamless display of athleticism and artistry.
