All about MFD...

The Menomonee Falls Dolphinettes began as a “water ballet” club at Menomonee Falls North High School in the mid-1960s. Girls in the club practiced all year and then put on a water show in the spring.

The team became a competitive program under USA Synchro (now called USA Artistic Swimming) in 1980. Eventually, it became an affiliate of the Menomonee Falls Recreation Department. It is a part of the Wisconsin Association of Artistic Swimming, as are the other two teams in the state (one in Wauwatosa and one in Madison). Over the years, teams in the metro Milwaukee area have come and gone; there are also several country club programs that compete against one another in the summer.

The Menomonee Falls Dolphinettes (MFD) has been the Wisconsin State Champions for the past 38 consecutive years. Even through COVID, while many teams struggled with limited or closed facilities, MFD was able to keep the program alive following strict guidelines.

MFD has swimmers from ages 5 to 19 years old who train during an 11-month season. In the fall, the team works on dryland strengthening and flexibility, conditioning and skills, and then moving on to choreographies to music. The competitive season runs from late November to the National Junior Olympic Meet at the end of June.
